Ambassador Robert F. Godec
Do you want to do business in the United States?

I often get questions from the Tunisian business community about investing, exporting, or doing business with the United States.  Whether it be exporting a handicraft or setting up a business, there are resources the US government has available to inform and assist foreign companies.  The State Department’s Bureau of Economic, Energy, and Business Affairs has a website that can serve as a starting point.  On this site, you can learn how to register or incorporate a business in the United States, how to export products to the United States, and obtain a state-by-state guide on how to find economic opportunities and interests in various regions of the United States.

In addition, many Tunisian exports can enter the US market duty-free through the Generalized System of Preferences (GSP).  Information on this program is available via the Office of the United States Trade Representative on this website.  The GSP program is, I believe, a great opportunity for Tunisian business and I hope Tunisia’s entrepreneurs and companies will take advantage of it.
