On May 14, I had the chance to visit a school for disabled children in Djerba. The local organization works with parents, government officials, and non-governmental organizations. The school was originally founded in 1984 with the help of American Peace Corps volunteers and members of the community. I was very impressed by the staff with whom I met, the classrooms, and the students. The school recently expanded to include the purchase of a therapeutic farm. The school, parents, local officials, and non-governmental organizations are clearly dedicated to the welfare of the children, and have accomplished a lot. It was great to have the opportunity to see the work this organization is doing, and I hope to visit again in the future!
